My favourite colour is purple. I like most colours, except that I'm not too fond of yellow. I'm a teacher, a student, a wife and a step-mom to four young adult-ish kids. My favourite room is my craft room. I like to play with photography, paper, scrapbooking, book and card making. Thanks for checking out my blog!

Colour in our Garden!

Our "Cate-and-Jim" maple tree! (They gave out saplings as their wedding favours.)
I have always loved a tree I would see on a bike route. The owners circled it with pink cosmos and they always look so colourful and friendly around the tree. I have wanted to do this at our own house for awhile now. So tonight we decided to get started on it. Feeling a little bit like we are breaking a by-law of some kind (because the tree is on city property, though it's right in front of our house),we went to work.
Before. We circled it with string, thinking it would help guide the digging up of the grass.

We put down a fabric barrier. We tried putting in a wooden edger, but no luck.  We will have to look for stones later.

It was nearly dark when we placed in the seeds. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so that will help to encourage their growth. I can't wait to see if this works!

Sacred Ground at Whistler

I meet with a group of creative, inspiring women about once a month. We work on our spiritual visual journals and we call our meetings Sacred Ground. Mostly because as we meet to create a page in our journals using a variety of techniques but on the same theme, something sacred happens. Putting images and words down on the page is a way to encounter God. Being able to share that and interact with each other in the process is a unique experience.

Last month we got to go away for an extended time of creativity  and stayed in a beautiful chalet in Whistler.
I made a movie of our fantastic weekend:

We're always open to new members, so if this is something you'd like to try out, let me know!

Happy Mother's Day!

I was inspired by my student's heart-felt messages about what they appreciate and love about their mums. So I made my own card for my mum. She is pretty special to me. Here are some of the reasons why.

Happy Mother's Day, mum! I love you.

THANK YOU MUM! These few words will help to fund a maternal-child survival center in Haiti.

It's almost Mother's Day.

In our classroom, that meant a very large scramble to put all our love and appreciation for our mums into a special booklet that we made yesterday. My heart was full, as I helped to edit their thoughts about their mothers and see them come to life on their booklet pages. What do you appreciate about your mum?

I wish I could watch these wonderful mums open their booklets!
